Isaac Asimov

Must-have Asimov Reference books

Many of the Asimov titles have autobiographical introductions. In one book he tells of being asked at a convention how he kept up with scientific advances. Asimov, of course, qualified as a scientist, so he made no special effort.

However, another member of the panel answered that he read Scientific American, and, according to Asimov, that developed into a lucrative production of non-fiction titles from himself.

Asimov and Arthur C. Clarke claimed between them the titles of the World's Second Best Science Fiction and Second Best Science Fact writers (and the best, if they were to be believed). Certainly, they produced an impressive body of work in both the fact and fiction fields.

Asimov held strong prejudices against "supernatural" phenomena such as E.S.P., but his interests were otherwise wide.

A word of caution here, he has on occasion explained carefully and clearly a scientific premise only to conclude by saying it is now known to be false.

What do you expect? He was one of the masters of the Shaggy Dog Story.
