Speechless (1994) movie review
Love Across the Political Divide
When two insomniac speech writers meet across a pharmacy shelf, they don't know that they are political adversaries. Kevin Vallick (Michael Keaton) is a television comedy writer asked by his ex-wife to come back to politics and save the campaign of her boss. Julia Mann (Geena Davis) is a true believer who has been around the political stage, but not on it, for years.
They hit it off until they discover that they are writing for opposites of a campaign. As their animosity escalates, the two candidates voice increasing attacks on one another, acting as puppets for their speech writers.
But love will find a way and the couple must find a balance between friendship, increasing attraction, and business rivalry. To add to the confusion, Julia's handsome ex-fiancé, a superstar reporter (Christopher Reeve) has joined the press train to win her back. It's a romantic comedy with intelligent, occasionally untrustworthy characters and more than a touch of satire.
Good fun.
