Knock Off
An extremely formulaic martial arts film, Knock Off is set in Hong Kong, literally on the eve of the hand over to China. Jean Claude Van Damme plays a knock off artist trying to break into legitimate business in the world capital of knock offs.
During the course of the film he runs the gamut of CIA agents, Red Chinese police, and corporate heavies. An extraordinary number of these kick and strike and shoot expertly. The plot is thin, and the acting and fights have a familiar jerky rhythm. If you enjoy a kicking-and-punching film with cardboard characters and even thinner motivation, then this is going to pass the time nicely. If you like your martial arts with a plot, try The Matrix instead.
