The Family Stone(2005) movie review

Home Sour Home

Everett Stone (Dermot Mulroney) brings his highly-strung girlfriend Meredith (Sarah Jessica Parker) home to meet his lively family at Christmas.

Prepared to dislike Meredith from descriptions, the family encourage her to show her most awkward and unlikeable side. She flees to a local inn, calling her sister (Clare Danes) to join her. Confusion ensues.

Diane Keaton as the mother leads a strong cast in this attempt at a sort of romantic/madcap comedy that somehow doesn't quite come off.

Feel the love.

There are so many elements thrown into this script that it loses its punch. While many people will be tempted by the cast, it is doubtful that many will ever give the film a second look.

The Family Stone No depth.
