Burn After Reading (2008) movie review
The Wages of Greed
When a pair of gym employees with more greed than brains find potentially important information they decide to hold it to ransom.
Typical of the dark irony of the Coen brothers (Fargo,) two people with little intelligence are trying to sell some. Obviously a little intelligence can be a dangerous thing in the world of Coens.
A familiar cast plays their roles to the hilt as murder and mayhem ensues.
But if all the characters are not so much quirky as self-centred and unlikeable, why would the audience care? Is noir with characters who bring their own downfall entertaining only to sadists?
Intelligence is relative
