Twilight (2008) movie review
Impossible Lovers
In the state of Washington under a near constant cover of clouds and rain there is a small town named Forks. Population 3,120 people.
The misty mountains of the American Pacific North-West have an eerie beauty. When the weather keeps the inhabitants indoors it causes the people to develop a rough camraderie that allows for insularity.
In this world the family of the local doctor are unusual, but accepted as peculiar, but unthreatening, by the local population.
When a spate of animalistic killings begins the local tribesmen are alert to a secret danger. Long ago they agreed to co-habit with non-humans who promised in return not to harm them. Is this treaty at an end?
When you can live forever what do you live for?
Bella Swan has returned to stay with her divorced father. She is fascinated by the palely enigmatic Edward Cullen, the more so when he displays superhuman strength saving her from an out-of-control car.
Bella, in the opening narration, prepares us for a great sacrifice and as the story progresses we discover that her journey into love will put herself, her friends and loved ones in danger.
Is a teenage girl ready to pay the ultimate cost for love?
Appropriately moody with action rather than depth, but interesting and entertaining nonetheless.
