Opened in the 1980s, Melbourne Central sits above the Melbourne Central underground railway station (originally known as Museum Station) of the City Loop. It features the original Coors Shot Tower under a glass cone, remnants of the factory previously on the site.
Melbourne Central is opposite the RMIT University and the State Library of Victoria.
Items of Interest: Historic Coops Shot Tower a munitions-making facility built in 1889; giant Marionette Watch hanging in Shot Tower Square; Glass Cone, designed by Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa; City Loop Melbourne Central train station; The Little Library free book exchange; on Level 2 a 5-star rated by (Breast Feeding Association) Parents' Retreat has change tables, a parents' room, bins, toilets, breast-feeding cubicles, a microwave and a place for kids to play.
