National Rhododendron Gardens
Mount Dandenong Tourist Road
The statistics for this park are amazing: 40 hectares of gardens with 15,000 rhododendrons, 12,000 azaleas, 3,000 camellias and 250,000 daffodils.

We visited the Dandenongs again on November 9, 1996. This time we sampled the food of different cafes, looked through an aromatherapy shop where I picked up some Wattleseed soap and then on to the National Rhododendron Gardens. Although peak season is October-November, a lot of the blooms were sadly past it.

Not so Priscilla the Peacock, who put on a fabulous display, turning carefully several times to allow us to fully appreciate him. Frankly, I suspect he has shares in Kodak because the click of a camera was his cue for ever more attractive poses.
