Phillip Island
Victoria
Perhaps best known as a venue for either the Little (Fairy) Penguins, or motor racing, Phillip Island is a popular destination for day-trippers.

Shearwaters and penguins use the Island as a summer breeding ground, shearwaters return to the northern hemisphere in Autumn and can be seen returning to Phillip Island each November.
I visited Phillip Island some years ago in a hired car, heading there with rolls of film and the intention of seeing the little penguins. A lot more attractions have been added since then.
