The Thirteenth Floor (1999) movie review
Douglas Hall (Craig Bierko) has a problem. His friend and boss Hannon Fuller (Armin Mueller-Stahl) has been killed and he is a suspect. The only clue has been left inside the virtual reality simulation that they had invented -- a world set in 1930s Los Angeles.
Douglas must gain the help of technician Jerry Ashton(Vincent D'Onofrio) to enter the virtual world and recover the message left for him. Once in the world Douglas discovers that he takes the place of a character already in place there. Jerry is there also, but as a bartender.
In the real world, a woman appears claiming to be Fuller's daughter (Gretchen Mol) who wants to shut down the project.
Douglas must investigate the murders that he apparently is committing (he has found bloody clothes in his apartment). The answer seems to be in the virtual world.
The Thirteenth Floor is science fiction, and a thriller, it takes the viewer on a ride moving as fast as possible to keep the viewer guessing until the very end.
