George of the Jungle
There is no doubt that Brendan Fraser is a talented and possibly fearless comedian. He is great to look at (which is increasingly important to Hollywood's castocracy) and willing to appear foolish. For this reviewer, any slapstick, physical or emotional is off-putting, and the central premise of the original, and this version, is slapstick of both kinds.
George meets girl, girl learns to love jungle, girl takes George back to concrete jungle, George and girl must beat down all opposition to live happily ever after.
It's a cartoon with actors. |
