Speed 2: Cruise Control | As the petunias said: "Oh no, not again!" |
Speed 2 had a reasonable premise for getting Sandra Bullock (Annie) back in high-speed danger. First she tells us (as she's trying to win back her license) that she and Jack broke up because "relationships started under pressure" etc. etc. Okay, so now she's with this beach patrol guy who does nothing more dangerous than ticket litterers (and presumably be a passenger when she practices). Actually, no, he's danger man in the SWAT team. Whoops. So off they go on a cruise, he with the intention of convincing her to take the ring and live with the knowledge that he needs to save the world twice a week. But little do our heroes know that a disgruntled ex-employee of the shipping line plans to (sigh, yes this is a BIT familiar). And so it goes. High speed, big budget, deaf girl trapped in the lift, near escapes, near death experiences, lots of techno devices. It passes the time, it has some slow bits, and maybe some people will recognise the poor dreadlocked guy who in the last film had his Porche borrowed by Reeves and in this film has his motor boat embroiled in another of Annie's adventures. Been there, seen the movie. Life goes on, but in Hollywood, reliving past glories is easier than original thought. Ali Kayn |
