American PieWhen you get four young teenage boys together with the one male pre-occupation in mind, 'losing one's virginity', roll in a bit of Porky's, Stripes and Revenge of the Nerds, as did film makers Warren Zide, Craig Perry, Chris Moore and Chris Weitz.
The result is an honest and affectionate look at a time in all our lives when we try our hardest to hold on to our dignity … and fail miserably.
You have Jim (Jason Biggs) the unluckiest guy in the world, a healthy, red-blooded guy who is … he's desperate. Although his challenged his well-meaning dad (Eugene Levy) was there for him with a mortifying zeal to help with the sexual education of his one and only son.

But in the end there is Michelle (Alyson Hannigan), a chatty band member (and what's with Band camp) who's handy with a flute. Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas) is a guy who wants nothing more than to please his steady girl friend, Vicky (Tara Reid). He has been handed the "Bible" a secret hand written manual of sexual do's and don'ts (can I have a copy), handed down from generation to generation. Oz (Chris Klein), a jock lacrosse player, who had to learn about his feminine side, before his sights could become firmly set on Heather (Mena Suvari) the beautiful co-ed who happens to be in the choir.

With Oz juggling lacrosse and the choir can he get his woman (?) will we see in the end or will it be too hard for the jock. Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas), who knows what to believe about this guy, he's legendary prowess definitely precedes him. Only Jessica (Natasha Lyonne), the voice of reason and sometimes fabricator of reality, knows the real truth (remember laxatives and a good coffee don't mix). So with the help of some class mates at East Great Falls High, this film is one of the funniest film I have ever seen and it is truly worth the effect in seeing only if it is to see what your kids may get up to. Oh hang on, a small tip always check your beer. |
