It's Complicated (2009) movie review
Love is More Complicated the Second Time Around
Jane's (Meryl Streep) life is just coming together. Her divorce is behind her, her business is doing well, and as her youngest girl heads off for college, Jane's nest is finally empty. She is about to do the house remodel that she always dreamed of. Jane has even found a man who listens to her, her architect (Steve Martin), the only fly in her ointment is her ex-husband who is intent upon insinuating himself back into her bed.
Written and directed by Nancy Meyers, the champion of lovers "of a certain age", It's Complicated is the tale of love that is lost and how it can keep us from finding new love.
This is not the best or funniest of Meyers' romantic comedies, however it has her usual trademarks -- intelligent characters with actual motivations, insight and the relationships between good friends.
