Fading Gigolo (2013) movie review
A Woman's Best Friend
Murray (Woody Allen) has lost his bookstore, but he has run out of things to sell. He suggests to part-time employee Fioravante (John Turturro) that there are women who would pay well for a man's man.
And so begins a profitable partnership servicing women who are willing to pay for attention and satisfaction. Sharon Stone and Sofía Vergara lead the way for others as the word goes out that 'Virgil' is the man to get when a woman needs 'plumbing'.
Things become complicated when Murray connects Fioravante with Avigal (Vanessa Paradis), the widow of a Chasidic Rabbi. Locked in a world that desperately restricts women, Avigal blossoms under Fioravante's care.
But Dovi (Liev Schreiber), a local security officer complete with patrol car trails Avigal and his longing leads to a crisis.
A gentle film, sometimes love story, sometimes comedy, it provides a look into the restricted world hidden in mainstream America.
