Large vessels cannot travel far down the Melbourne River. The Westgate bridge is the last bridge that permits tall ships. Pleasure crafts of many kinds make their way under the low bridges in the inner city area. They transport site-seers on trips of various lengths. |

From Alexandra Gardens across the Yarra River towards Batman Avenue. Flinders St station is to the left across the river. | Best known of the Melbourne river traffic are the sculling teams, and during the Moomba festival, the water skiers' speedboats. This quiet stretch with its historic club houses is filled with onlookers when the water events are run. |
