Sabotage (2014) movie review
Revenge, Served Cold
Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a DEA agent who heads a bad-ass undercover team. When his superiors can't prove that he was complicit in the theft of $10 million of drug money, he's returned to duty. But celebrations are short-lived when his team starts being killed off. Homicide investigators, led by Caroline (Olivia Williams) are drawn into their world of politics and ugly retribution.
Does this sound like a shoot-em-up pic to you? It uses plot points (familiar ones) instead of characterisation, and really only works if the viewer likes watching people running around damaging people and stuff.
But it's a Schwarzenegger film, and although he tends to be in films with strong female characters (Kindergarten Cop, True Lies, Terminator 2, Total Recall) the full-on females in this film don't stretch it beyond it's bang-bang boy-film premise.
If you can last through the gunplay, the ending is a bit confusing, but interesting. Great entertainment, it's not.
