Russ Crossley writes science fiction and fantasy, and mystery/suspense under the name R.G. Crossley.

Has your interaction with fans, for example, at conventions, affected your work?

I have learned to really appreciate fandom even more than I already did since I'm a fan myself when I attend cons. Fans are truly devoted to what they love and I fond their passion infectious and energizing.

Is there any particular incident (a letter, a meeting, a comment that stands out?

I had a fan track me down at World Con in Reno, Nevada to get my autograph. It's a strange experience but also thrilling. We authors work in isolation and have no real sense if we have fans. I'm truly humbled this by this fan.

Do you have a favourite author or book (or writer or film or series) that has influenced you or that you return to?

There are many, many books and films I love. My early influences included Star Trek books and films, and Star Wars films. Today I tend to like the darker SF/horror such as Dark City, the Terminator series, The Walking Dead (graphic novels and TV) and Roller Ball (70's version). But I still enjoy the current crop of SF/Super Hero films, and off the wall films such as Iron Sky and Fido.

Who is the person you would most like to be trapped in a lift with? or a spaceship?

Superman in both instances.

Who is the person you would most DISlike to be trapped in a lift with? Or a spaceship?

Gordon Ramsay.

What would you pack for space? (Is there a food, beverage, book, teddy bear, etc that you couldn't do without?)

Cheese burgers for sure.

What is the most important thing you would like to get/achieve from your work?

A happy audience of readers who enjoy the work.

What is the special satisfaction of your work?

Typing the end. (ha, ha). But seriously when my editor comes back and says she loves the book.
