Crime Fighting in New York's Future

In 2057 New York homicide detective Eve Dallas is investigating the serial killing of licensed companions. Struggling with the constraints of an investigation being strangled by the senator grandfather of one of the victims, she is continually being confronted by connections with the wealthy, maybe criminal, black Irish Roarke.

It is the spring of 2058 (May) following her investigation into the serial killings and Eve Dallas spends most of her nights with Roarke in his Central Park West mansion. But while she is investigating the murder of a prosecuting attorney, she is struggling with her relationship with Roarke, and the many connections she keeps finding that lead back to the man with myriad holdings and a redacted past.

Peabody is introduced when she secures a scene.

As Eve's wedding day approaches, she is struggling to defend Mavis against murder charges. She drafts Delia Peabody as aide to assist her in investigating the death of one of her weasels.

Eve's and Roarke's honeymoon on Olympus Resort is interrupted by the discovery of a tech's suicide. Returning to New York, Eve becomes convinces that other suicides are connected, but she has only a minute mark on the brain to connect them.

The investigation into the death of a police officer takes Eve, Roarke and Peabody into the world of Satanists and Wiccan witches. It also introduces them to Jamie, the officer's grandson and an electronics prodigy who wants to be a cop.

15 years before Roarke had killed those who tortured and murdered Summerset's daughter. Now those who gave him information are dying and Eve must stop the killing.

Someone dressed as Santa is raping and killing the clients of a matchmaking service. Meanwhile Eve is struggling with the horrors of shopping for Christmas presents for her increasing circle of friends.

Features the return of licensed companion Charles Monroe.

A terrorist group calling themselves Cassandra is at work. Meanwhile Eve is investigating the murder of a businessman that is developing a connection to Peabody's brother.

At the premiere of a revival of Witness for the Prosecution, the lead actor is killed in front of Eve and Roarke. They investigate. Meanwhile Peabody is juggling Charles Monroe and an increasingly jealous McNab.

It's spring of 2059 and Eve is investigating the death of a bartender at Roarke's club Purgatory, who happens to be a moonlighting cop. The cop's own house are lobbying for the investigation to be turned over to them and IAB Webster warns Dallas off the case. Webster's feelings for Eve threaten to drive a wedge between Eve and Roarke.

It's spring 2059 and Roarke's involved in the massive sale of an actresses memorabilia when from the past up turns Michael Connelly. Eve is not impressed but she is more concerned when two of Roarke's employees are brutally murdered. Meanwhile Peabody's use of Monroe as a source triggers McNab's jealousy and Eve is forced to eat sympathetic ice cream and deal with two team members who are not on speaking terms.

Dallas is on Olympus Resort for a police seminar when a much lauded ex-cop offers her captains bars in return for helping him to bring down Roarke. She resists the attempts of his bodyguards to restrain her and that night is confronted with a dead body.

In the spring of 2059 Dallas and Peabody are investigating a series of sexual homicides involving expensive date rape drugs. Louise Dimatto witnesses the fall of the first victim and Charles Monroe is called in as an expert witness. Meanwhile Peabody and McNab are still struggling with their breakup.

It's summer of 2059 and Dallas is facing an old adversary, released from prison and killing again. This time Roarke could be a target. Peabody's parents are in town and Peabody and McNab are working out their new couple status.

July 2059 New York. It's the ultimate cybercrime - someone is killing people using computers. Features the return of computer kid-genius Jamie Lingstrom.

A serial killer is posing and photographing the bodies of his victims. It is the summer of 2059, Summerset, instead of his scheduled vacation, is laid up with broken bones and Roarke, through Dochas, learns the story of his natural mother Siobhan Brody.

September, 2059 and someone is recreating the acts of famous serial killers. Dallas and Peabody are investigating while Peabody is also busy studying for the detectives exam and moving in with McNab. Mavis helps out, pregnant but still not showing a bump.

September 2059 and Roarke's assistant Caro calls in the middle of the night. Her daughter, also and employee of his, is implicated in the murder of her husband and his lover. The ensuing investigation reveals that Homeland Security knows more about Eve and her past than either she or the protective Roarke believe.

September 2059 and someone is killing women and removing their eyes. Meanwhile Dallas must face the horrors of a quiet dinner party with friends and Peabody and McNab pack their respective homes as they prepare to move in together.

It's three weeks after Visions in Death, October 2059 and Nixie Swisher is the only survivor of a murderous home invasion. Dallas must protect Nixie and bring down the team that killed her family and friend.

November 2059 and Eve Dallas and Peabody together with their friend reporter Nadine and Roarke are faced with an investigation into the life and practice of a famous reconstructive surgeon. Roarke gives Eve a new, calf-length black leather coat.

December 2059 and in the days leading up to Christmas, Eve is confronted by a woman from her past.

January 2060 New York, a body is found in the supposedly haunted shell of an old nightclub, killed by the same gun as the newly revealed body of a cult-followed singer. Can the pragmatic Dallas solve both crimes and lay the ghost she sees, hears, but disbelieves? (Novella)

Spring 2060 Eve and Roarke are just shy of two years married. The preliminary events for Charles and Louise's wedding are coming up and Morris' life is shattered when Detective Coltraine is found dead.

July 2060 and the second anniversary for Eve and Roarke finds them visiting Ireland. They return to New York and Eve is quickly called to the scene of a murder -- the beginning of a series of killings of experts in their service fields.

July 2060. It's the day following the capture of the murderers in Indulgence of Death. Eve and Roarke are hosting a cookout for their friends. Taking Father Lopez back to his church, Eve and Chale encounter a dying Gypsy and Eve becomes involved in the investigation of the death, and the woman's missing great-grand-daughter. (novella)

Mid-Summer 2060 in New York. Peabody overhears two dirty cops talking in the deserted old police central gym. Eve and she must investigate the daughter of the revered ex-police commander without her or her dirty squad finding out.

Late summer 2060. The predatory pedophile whose capture brought rookie Eve Dallas to Feeny's notice has escaped and will kill a recaptured victim in Dallas if Eve does not go there. Despite her history, Eve takes Roarke and prepares to cooperate with local law enforcement and the FBI to bring McQueen back into a cage.

October 2060 and dinner with the cast portraying the key players of the Icove story in an upcoming film ends in murder when the body of the unpleasant actress playing Peabody is discovered.

Eve gets a new coat with body armour lining.

Late autumn 2060 and a bio-agent causes the death of over 80 customers in one of Roarke's bars. Eve and Summerset must call an uneasy truce so that she can take advantage of his knowledge and contacts from the Urban Wars.

Meanwhile Roarke has Eve's long leather coat retrofitted with his new fabric body armor.

November 2060 and the search for a dead woman 's killer has Eve and Peabody investigating a world of finance. Luckily Eve has her own numbers geek.

It's approaching Thanksgiving 2060 and for Eve and Roarke that means his family coming in force from Ireland. More disturbing is that Eve and Roarke are to receive the highest police and civilian awards respectively for their past crime-fighting; a great irony for Roarke, the man with a murky past.

But crime never sleeps in New York and a son who is never satisfied and has gathered grudges all his life discovers that he is quite good at killing. Human cunning and high-tech data crunching are required to end his spree before the big celebration.
